Mana Mawlai
Shakuhachi, General Manager
Mana’s career has seen her work with some of Australia’s leading brands including; Fleur Wood, Alice McCall, General Pants in house labels, Something Else, Ksubi and currently Shakuhachi.
Mana’s roles have encompassed everything from brand management to product development, range consulting, production, sales and distribution.
After studying manufacturing at East Sydney and fashion business and design at FBI, Mana began her first job in PR, however she quickly realized that her passion and talent lay in working directly with product.
Among the highlights of Mana’s varied career are the expansion of the Fleur Wood brand from sleepwear and home wares into fashion, working with the Men's and Women's buyers at General Pants to develop product for their in house brands such as Line, Arvust, Alice in the Eve and Subtitled and the rebranding of Something and Something Else into one label.
This process saw Mana bring on new suppliers to create more sophisticated product, she then sold the collection in the UK and US markets, quadrupling the sales target.
After successfully rebuilding Something Else as a brand, Bleach, the parent company who Mana was employed by, purchased Ksubi and put Mana in charge of their womenswear and Insight’s womenswear.
Mana recently became the General Manager of Shakuhachi working across all elements of the brand.
Higher Learning will see Mana share her knowledge on everything from branding to production, distribution and breaking into international markets.
